Slowly the orcs started falling one by one.

Coco as well did her part and started healing some of the injured group members bringing them back to a somewhat healthy state, at least to one where they were able to fight again.

It was the orcs turn to get flustered as they were being pushed back. The situation also looked like it was about to be resolved.

More and more orcs fell as Qin Hua finished them off one at a time. Alex took down a few and Guan Ye also exhibited amazing strength, pulling down significant numbers.

Xu Meilin, Luo Zu, and Qiang recovered and the three of them together were handling a couple of orcs.

However, just as she was about to land another attack, Xu Meilin suddenly stopped. Her face paled as if it was devoid of all blood supply and fear appeared in her eyes.

She had a very bad feeling well up at the bottom of her stomach and she was even having difficulty breathing.

“Little white… Lu Chen…” Her words came out barely as a whisper and were drowned in the chaotic battleground. No one had heard her.

And the very next second, something else happened to attract everyone’s attention.

Just as everyone was on the verge of completely overpowering the orcs and slaughtering all of them, loud crackling noises sounded.

Almost everyone orcs, humans, and dogs alike turned to look at the source of this sound and it was surprisingly coming from the portal.

The portal to the spatial rift was crackling. The white bluish portal that had turned greenish black was now visibly cracking.

The swirling mass of energy was breaking apart and soon it completely disappeared leaving behind nothing but a huge gaping hole.

FWOOOOSH!

A tremendous roar of swirling icy winds assaulted everyone and slowly the mist cleared to reveal the big empty opening.

The door that was previously closed was now open!

Qin Hua became alert because she already knew what this meant! Now the orcs would be able to step into their world!

Were the portals to spatial rifts really this fragile?

The orcs had clearly tampered with it to prevent their group from running away and leaving, but now this had ultimately resulted in this rift being completely open.

[This is not good. Nope. This is not good at all. We need to finish this fight asap and get the rift crystal! Growl!]

Qin Hua howled loudly, her reverberating roar urging everyone to return back to their fight and focus but people still seemed to be staring dumbfoundedly at the entrance.

She was at the back so she couldn’t get see anything properly. Wondering what was happening, the wolf dashed closer to the portal opening to take a better look.

And as soon as she did, she was even more shocked! She was stunned silly, now staring dumbly at the entrance just like everyone else!

As if the frost orcs were not enough, standing in front of the huge hole connecting their world with the rift was an army of beasts.

And they were not simply rats or birds…

Each and every single beast looked terrifying! They were grotesque looking creatures that seemed to be an amalgamation of many entities.

The one at the front had the head of a serpent, the body of a lion, and horns like a deer.

It was also spitting out flames, glaring at everyone as if it was ready to jump ahead and devour everything in sight.

Even Qin Hua felt a sense of danger and anxiety welling up in her.

As there wasn’t just this one beast, but several other beasts standing behind it, all of them looking equally grotesque and overpowered.

The orcs and the humans could only dumbly stare at each other, neither of them knowing what to do.

Qin Hua was almost too scared to do this. She weakly muttered. [Inspect]

<Ding. Serpentine Chimera; Level 50>

<Ding. Winged Bat Chimera; Level 45>

<Ding. Striped Tiger Chimera; Level 43>

<Ding. Triple headed Lion Chimera; Level 49>

The list continued with each description worse than the previous one.

[Lions? Tigers? Where the fuck did all these wild animals come from? Aren’t these supposed to be in national parks and wildlife conservancies?]

[We are in the middle of densely populated cities!]

Qin Hua’s head spun. She had no idea what the hell was going on anymore and how the hell they were supposed to face this ridiculously overpowered army of chimera beasts.

Standing beside her, Lu Chen gripped her, his body shaking. He didn’t know if this was the last day of our life. “Thank you.” He mumbled, not looking at anything in particular.

Qin Hua wanted to tell him not to lose hope and to fight back, but she herself was in the same situation. She silently stuck out her tongue and licked his hand.

Others as well had similar reactions and looked at each other in fear and also a sort of peace. This being the last day… perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad…

Xu Meilin hugged Alex tightly. She was now able to breathe but the bad feeling at the bottom of her stomach had materialized into monsters in front of her. So her condition wasn’t much better.

An eerie silence prevailed and breaking this, Alex weakly muttered with her teeth chattering in fear. “Maybe… maybe… they won’t… come… inside…”

She wasn’t too loud but everyone heard her.

[Nooooo! Don’t jinx it! Fuuuuuck] Qin Hua looked at Coco, her lucky charm, who was standing right next to her and shivering.

And just like she feared… as soon as Alex said that loud roars erupted and the beasts started running, directly towards them, through the big opening, one by one.
