” We are fucked ” Sebastian said as he rode on the nether beast and felt the entire forest behind them being turned into a massive fire.

For a mother seeing her eggs being stolen this way was a heartbreaking moment and the rage she felt right now was unreal.

The real kicker however was that the theft job was not clean at all and Max knew it.

Even with his inferior sense of smell he could figure out the scent of Sebastian from a few metres away, which meant that there was no way that the mother dragon was not going to pick up on their trail soon enough and the group turning into Ash when she arrived.

The group had managed to put nearly 800 metres in distance between themselves and the mother dragon, however, feeling the heat of the burning forest behind their backs, they knew it was only a matter of time before the mother dragon found them all.

The group ran with all the might behind their legs, however, with every breath they took they felt an immense beast close down on their location as Max was forced to make a tough choice in the heat of the moment.

” You guys carry on, I have a plan, I’ll find you all soon! ” He said as he stopped running and turned to face the incoming dragon, as the rest of the group looked extremely perplexed as to what Max hoped to achieve.

” You can’t be silly, it’s a damn dragon!” Anna shouted as she stopped running too, however, she instantly had her robes pulled by Asiva who dragged her with strength to force her to continue running.

” Why? “Anna said angrily, she did not feel morally correct in leaving Max behind but she was met with a fierce glare from Asiva

” If he says he has a plan than he has a plan, you have to trust him in these situations, he will be back, he will be! ” Asiva said with half conviction and half doubt as it felt like she was convincing herself as much as she was convincing Anna.

‘ So what’s the plan? ‘ Drax asked Max as the two of them watched the forest in front of them being torn to ashes

” Immunity or suicide” Max said stating his intentions.

Drax sighed, Max had made a calculated bet this time but it was still a risky one.

Max was betting on the fact that the mother dragon was a tier 4 beast and with Max’s Agni Astra protection that granted him immunity upto flames 2 tiers above from his tier, he would be able to withstand her fury.

The plan was risky because, whether or not the mother dragon was actually tier4 or was she even stronger was only an educated guess on Max’s part from seeing the size and strength of her flames which made him conclude that she was tier 4 at best.

If this guess was wrong and she turned out to be even stronger Max would die a brutal death by fire.

If his guess was correct, well then he would last for a few more seconds before being sent to the afterlife, because dragons breath was not the only spell under a dragon’s belt and against a weakling like Max, even a bite attack was enough to end his life by snapping his body in half.

Drax knew this was a suicidal plan, and he knew exactly why Max chose to do it, Drax also knew about Max’s burning ambitions which is why this suicidal choice hurt Drax even more, because this spelled end of the road for Max.

‘ You know Max, when I made you kill your ex girlfriend back on Earth, I thought it would make you stronger against the charms of women, but apparently not ‘ Drax said as Max grinned widely.

There was no hiding of his true intentions from the grandpa in his brain, they both knew that Max was doing this for Asiva and Asiva only.

Max’s legs turned to jelly as he felt like he lost all strength to move, becoming a sitting duck for the dragon’s rage.

Picking up on Max’s scent, the yellow dragon mother knew he was one of the culprits which was why she had no mercy for Max when she saw him, letting out a devastating dragon’s breath towards him with the intention of not even sparing him some ash.

‘ Time to see the strength of the Agni Astra ‘ Max said as he closed his eyes anticipating a burning sensation.

The fire passed through Max’s body as it reduced everything on him to ashes. However, it bounced off harmlessly against his skin.

Max’s armour, his concealer mask, his robes, everything except the green winged necklace that Hazriel gifted him turned to ash, as Max’s arm containing the Agni Astra began shining in a radiant glow going into overdrive as Drax tried to consume all the flames washing over Max’s body.

As the dragon’s breath attack passed, Max stood before the mother dragon buck naked yet unscratched as for a moment even the mother dragon became perplexed as to what was going on.

A mortal like Max should not be able to withstand her dragons breath, she knew it full well, yet he stood before her unharmed and this fact pissed her off so much that she unleashed a second dragon’s breath with even more fury than she unleashed the first one.

If Max had relied on a cheap life saving artefact to survive he would surely be dead with the second attack, however, Max was not relying on anything cheap at all but rather a supreme divine weapon, which is why even a second time he came out unscratched.

” Is that all you got momma? ” Max asked with a defiant glare into the dragon’s eyes as he showed spine in the face of danger

Max knew that he could not outrun the behemoth, he could not damage it either and that his death was but a given.

The only thing he could do was not to die like a coward, which he tried his best to do.

The dragon lunged at Max, opening its jaws wide as Max knew this time around he was finished for sure, but even so he pulled out his sword the bloodsucker out of his inventory with the intention to stab the dragon in the mouth before he died.

What Max was unaware of however was the fact that a certain turtle was watching this development from a distance.
