Consort Mei, one of the four consorts, was the only consort among the four who had no children of her own.

Lin Feilu had met a few concubines in the palace and this was the first time she met one who expressed graciousness towards her.

Since the Crown Prince had spoken up, Consort Mei had no choice but to accept it. After exchanging a few more friendly sentences and smiles, she lowered the curtain and withdrew into the carriage.

Lin Qing continued to trot forward. Lin Feilu patted her chest and said in a small voice that could only be heard by the two of them. “I was scared to death.”

Lin Qing smiled and replied solemnly. “You are a royal princess and she is just a concubine. Why are you afraid of her?”

Although Consort Mei was favored by the Emperor, she had no children. She did not pose a threat to the throne in the future so it was no surprise that the Empress and the Crown Prince had not shown her any hostility.
