Chapter 689 – You Cheated? Okay, I’m Cheating, Too!

“He’s cheating again, isn’t he?”

Miaomiao frowned and observed Tlaloc’s reaction. Seeing how the demon god fled from the medium plane, he was certain that the new monsters might be stronger than Tlaloc could handle alone.

‘Don’t worry, munya. We’ve had an agreement, and he will lose something in return for that stunt, munya.’

While Miaomiao was complaining, Mu-Nyang was chatting with him as well.

“What did you get for allowing this?”

‘I can freely talk to you, and I get to mod the game when it’s released, munya. Also, I rigged a few exceptional myth-grade items in the weapon tickets. Give them to your subordinates, and you should be fine if Pangu’s monsters attack you, munya!’

“At the cost of my trouble? What if we lose?”

‘We won’t, munya. Have some faith in your new pawn and my weapons, munya!’

“I believe in your hardware, but is that player trustworthy?” Miaomiao referred to Hiiro, whom Sima Yi and Tlaloc had manipulated into betraying Pan Mei.

‘He has a protagonist’s heavenly fate crystal for a reason, munya. Leave him be, and he will find a way to neutralize those monsters for you, munya.’

“In short, I have to play it passively and let the protagonist grow.”

‘Exactly, munya!’

“Okay. If you say so.”

Miaomiao coughed and relayed his new policy order to Guo Jia and Sima Yi, whom he had assigned as a strategist of the teams.

While he was at it, he also called for his buddy.

“Moxi, are you up? I have something for you to do.”

Sima Yi had been sitting on top of a massive Cathulhu’s head, watching Miaomiao’s new constructions being automatically built.

According to Sima Yi’s blueprint and suggestions, Miaomiao built a circular wall, which enclosed the portal. This wall was the first layer of defense, which housed a missile tower on the top of the walls, facing the front of the portal.

MRL Tower (10,000 Dao Stones, 100,000 PACTs)

The multiple rocket launcher tower can shoot anti-sage missiles, which can easily take down entities and sages in one hit. Each missile is coated with the Providence Law of Destruction, and it can potentially kill any unrestrained sage. Therefore, it is an ideal defensive weapon to be placed on any strategic locations.

The missile tower was the upgraded sentry structure that Miaomiao had built. By building a defensive wall first, a sentry tower, which was the basic defensive building, was unlocked, and Miaomiao placed it on the wall. Then, he upgraded the sentry tower into a missile tower, making it the first threatening weaponry that could fight against unrestrained sages.

However, one missile tower was not enough. Miaomiao needed to build more.

Unfortunately, some of the budgets had been allocated to expanding resource structures and increasing the population of catopuses. Miaomiao also spent the last bit of resources to build a grand elder.

Leaving with no money, Sima Yi stopped expanding his defensive structures and contemplated what to do. He sent a sound transmission to Guo Jia.

“Drunkard! How is your army going?”

A few minutes later, Guo Jia replied in a weak voice.

‘Not good. Adam’s men don’t listen to me. Tlaloc is hard to talk to, and Orochi is cultivating all day. I can’t mobilize these guys. Only Nuwa, Fuxi, Fu Daotian, and Adam cooperates.’

“Lord Mao has given me permission. Tell the people who want to use the sacrificial altar that we have enough materials to make several sages. But if they want to use it, they have to be branded with a slave mark, and they will have to become our war slaves.”

‘… You’re cruel. People will hate you for that.’

“We’re fighting for silver Qi and opportunities. If we lose, it’s over. But if we win, we get to start over with our memory intact. Why bother with trivial political stuff when we’re going to die in a month or so.”

‘… You’re right. I’ll be bolder.’

“Anyway, when you’re done, tell Orochi and Tlaloc that we won’t be going out. We’re going to let our agent in the player’s ranks get rid of the monsters for us.”

‘Ah, Lord Mao has already told me. I’ll pass the order.’

The conversation ended. Sima Yi deeply exhaled and brought out a mirror. Then, he gazed at his reflection, which showed another person inside.

“Wanna switch Oda?”

The person in the mirror was Oda Nobunaga, the other soul that had been residing in Sima Yi’s body. The middle-aged man silhouette scoffed.

‘What’s the point of switching when I can’t do shit in battle? If you want me to come out, use the altar and boost your cultivation base to an unrestrained sage or a Great Dao Sage. Then, I can come out and help you in war.’

“Ah, that will be tough. I just told Guo Jia to use the altar.”

‘Then, it doesn’t matter. Just keep working and earn that Silver Qi. We need that thing for our next life.’

“True. Let’s do our best. Don’t forget to warn me if some of my decisions don’t make any sense to you.”

‘I know.’

The face of Nobunaga in the mirror reverted to Sima Yi. The soul went back to rest.

Sima Yi put away the mirror and clapped his hands. He had done everything he could today, and he got himself a lot of free time to play with the cats.

He patted the Cathulhu that he had been sitting on.

“Hey, wanna play catch?”

“MUNYA!” The huge cat smiled and meowed.

Sima Yi laughed. He brought out a fluffy rat doll and tossed it to a distance. Then, he jumped.

The Cathulhu vanished and caught the rat doll in one second. However, many catopuses and Cathulhus also scrambled to get the doll as well.

The catch turned into a free-for-all rugby match. Large and small Cathulhus jumped at each other, messing around like young cats.

Sima Yi enjoyed the scenery of the cheerful happy cats on the field. Relieving the cats’ stress was all he could do to help them.

But as Sima Yi was playing with the cats, the portal fluctuated, and several tar monsters came out. They growled and glared at the walls in front of them.

“Oh, a customer so early?”

Sima Yi looked back. Before he could do anything, the rocket launching tower automatically opened fire.

Five missiles hit the ground in front of the tar monsters and exploded!

As if someone had dropped multiple nuclear warheads, a massive explosion occurred, and a shockwave wind knocked everybody in the sky backward.

However, the shockwave didn’t do anything to the wall and system structures. They stood tall as if they were indestructible.

The invading tar monsters turned into a pool of crude oil, continuing to burn and releasing black smoke. The previous nukes also released mushroom clouds and invisible radiation into the air.

The Cathulhus and catopuses behind the walls raised their ears. They rushed to the battlements and deeply inhaled, swallowing the radiation as if they were delicious food.

Several catopuses grew larger. A few grew new tentacles while the fur of many Cathulhus grew longer, becoming silky smooth and shiny.

Sima Yi observed how British Short-Hair Cathulhus turned into Maine Coons. He laughed so hard that his stomach hurt.

However, he had no time to rest. More tar monsters came out of the portal.

BOOM

The MRL turret tower fired another volley. Another series of nukes erupted.

Sima Yi and the cats did nothing. They watched how the turret destroyed the invaders one after another. While they were at it, they cultivated and gathered the radiation energy into their furs.

More waves of monsters kept coming into the plane. Sima Yi inspected the MRL turret, checking its ammo.

The turret came with 1,000 missiles, and it always fired a volley of five. Sima Yi estimated that they could hold 200 waves of monsters if no Great Dao Sage appeared.

‘I hope no strong monster comes in.’

Unfortunately, Sima Yi had jinxed it. A huge tar slime made its way to the plane.

Tlaloc and Orochi rushed to the site. They glared at the large monster and warned the cats.

“Back off! That thing is a Great Dao Sage!”

Sima Yi and the cats’ faces turned pale. They flew away as if their lives depended on it.

BOOM

The MRL turret nuked the monster and caught it on fire. However, it ignored the flame and crawled closer to the turret.

The slime extended itself and lashed at the missile launcher!

BOOM

The tar slime failed to hit the turret. Its long arm hit a semi-transparent barrier of the defensive wall. At the same time, a red bar appeared over the wall, which indicated how much HP it had left.

Because of the monster attack just now, the HP of the wall decreased by 15 percent.

“GET LOST!”

Tlaloc transformed into a 1,000-meter tall giant and stomped the tar slime.

SPLASH

His foot easily squashed the slime core, but it also burnt and corroded his sole. Within a second, Tlaloc’s foot was reduced to a skeleton.

Fortunately, the stomp was enough to put an end to the slime monster. Although it had the aura and the natural toughness of a Great Dao Sage, it wasn’t proficient at Providence Law Domains.

Tlaloc pulled his foot out and tried to heal himself. Then, he discovered a grim development.

The tar disabled his Providence Law and regeneration abilities. He couldn’t heal his foot!

“BE CAREFUL! THE SLIME CAN DISABLE OUR HEALING ABILITIES!”

Tlaloc shouted and turned to another group of invaders. Another Great Dao Sage appeared!

The demon god clicked his tongue. He hesitated for a while, but he decided to use another good foot to stomp the new monster.

Again, the slime was easily killed, but it also harmed Tlaloc. The demon god pulled his foot back and looked at his bone feet.

It was unpleasant to look at. He felt like he was slowly turned into an undead.

WHOOSH

WHOOSH

Three more Great Dao Sages entered their plane!

“DAMMIT!”

Tlaloc wanted to curse Pangu to death. This Creator Sage Pangu was too unreasonable!

But as the demon god was in despair, Ma Moxi flew out of the radar tower. He brought out two myth-grade weapon tickets that he had gotten from Miaomiao and tore them at once.

A modern-looking sniper rifle and a railgun cannon appeared.

Ma Moxi fumbled with the weapons for a few seconds. Then, he carried the massive railgun and put it on top of the wall, 100 meters away from the MRL turret.

Tlaloc ignored Ma Moxi and punched the two slimes. As he had expected, the slimes melted his fists and left him with a pair of skeleton hands.

Now, the demon god had lost both usable feet and hands! He had nothing else to use.

Five more giant tar slimes emerged from the portals. Now, combined with the previous slime, six great dao sages were all here!

Pangu really went all out against Mu-Nyang’s faction!

Orochi and MRL turrets barraged the monsters with everything they had, but they failed to put a dent in them. The resurrected dragon god gritted his teeth.

“I’m going to the altar! I’m going to sacrifice some clones and become a Great Dao Sage!”

Tlaloc shook his head, “That will be too late. Even after you broke through, you can’t use the power of the Great Dao Sage until your foundation is stabilized. Otherwise, your body will shatter to pieces after you use the power once!”

“Then what do we do?!”

“…”

Tlaloc couldn’t answer. He focused on getting rid of the curses and whatever was corroding his flesh and bones.

But while Tlaloc and Orochi were in despair, Ma Moxi finished the setup. He flipped some switches and sat on an array. Then, he looked up.

“Senior, if you have enough time to complain, could you come here for a second?”

Tlaloc and Orochi stared at Ma Moxi, “What are you doing?”

“Long story short, just sit here where I’m sitting and charge the batteries with your Connate Qi and Providence Law, please.”

“…”

Tlaloc reverted back to his human-sized form. He sat on the platform behind the railgun as Ma Moxi had requested. Then, the array began sucking his energy.

“What is this thing, brat?!”

Ma Moxi snickered, “A cannon, of course.”

“I have no time and energy to waste on a weak-looking cannon! What are you trying to-“

ZAAAAAAAAAAP

Before Tlaloc could finish his sentences, the railgun unleashed the Tribulation Providence Law Beam. The energy beam carried the power of Tlaloc’s energy, evaporating one of the slimes.

“…”

Tlaloc stared at the cannon in a daze. He was confused.

“What is this…”

BANG

Ma Moxi didn’t listen to Tlaloc. He pointed the muzzle of his new rifle and fired at the other tar monsters, reducing their number.

“What did you say again, senior?” Ma Moxi looked at the faceless demon with a deep frown. “I’m so sorry. The weapons are loud, isn’t it? Could you please speak louder?”

“…”

ZAAAAAAAAAAP

Tlaloc couldn’t do anything or utter a word. The next second, the railgun fired another beam, and another slime were destroyed.
