Chapter 680 – Cons of Sacrificial Altar

For hours, Orochi accelerated the time flow and decreased the cooldown timer of the Sacrificial Altar. When he was done, he panted and gazed at Miaomiao.

The Chrono Providence consumed 90% of his Connate Qi and other elemental providence Qi. He was also exhausted to the point that he could barely stand.

When Orochi realized the severity and the difficulty of the Chrono Element Providence, he was puzzled how Miaomiao, who was several times weaker than him, managed to complete the task faster than him. Moreover, Miaomiao didn’t seem to use that much Qi.

“Mao Miaomiao. What are you?”

“Your new boss,” Miaomiao shrugged.

“Stop messing around. Really, who are you?!”

“Mu-Nyang’s successor or his illegitimate child, maybe. But seriously, I’m his king piece.”

“…”

Orochi remembered that Miaomiao revealed his cultivation base as Immortal Sage. Now, he started to believe in him.

Since Miaomiao had proven that he had the qualification to be the boss of this plane, Orochi accepted his position and focused on recovering his power.

While Orochi was recovering his strength, Clem and Levy flew out of the sect’s main hall to see the legendary figure of the past.

When Clem noticed Orochi’s humanoid appearance, she squealed.

“OH MY GOD! Is that who I think it is?!”

Levy bitterly smiled, “Probably.”

“KYAAAAAAA!! WHAT SHOULD I DO?! Will he give me an autograph?!”

Miaomiao and others overheard that. Venti and Nero facepalmed while other dragons had strange expressions on their face.

Orochi turned to Clem. But upon sensing her aura, he clicked his tongue.

“Who is that lizard? Why is her soul so corrupted?”

Miaomiao followed Orochi’s eyes and found Clem. He instantly understood what he meant.

“That’s one of my concubines. The recent one, actually. It took me a while to brainwash her and reeducate her about common sense, guilty conscience, and moral principles. Because of her baboon brain, she’s a bit of a psychopath.”

“I thought you were only interested in cats. You even took in dragons as your wives?”

“Why not? I believe in racial equality. Every race is fuckable if they have a pussy.”

“You… you’re sick. Has anybody told you that?” Orochi was taken aback. He took back all the good impressions about Miaomiao’s abilities, talent, and status.

“I’m just being an alpha chad. Well, focus on your recovery. A reminder, though. Many people are waiting for their turn. If you don’t want to use it, you should give it to others first.”

“…”

Orochi scanned his condition and discovered that he still needed to stabilize his foundation and take about half a day to recover his strength. Thus, he gave up his queue and postponed the breakthrough chance for another day.

As Orochi gave up his queue, Miaomiao turned toward another candidate, aka Mir.

However, Mir declined the offer.

“I’m not ready yet, munya.”

Miaomiao and others were puzzled, “But why? You can become as strong as Hongjun and Tlaloc. Then, you will be one step closer to your god, Mu-Nyang.”

“Cathulhus have pride, munya! We might pursue strength, but that strength has to come from our hard work and effort, munya!”

“But you will fall behind if others become Great Dao Sages first.”

“Increasing one’s cultivation base without a stable foundation is like building a sandcastle, munya. If I do it and get in a real fight, I won’t be able to use the true potential of the Great Dao Sages. At best, I can only have the physical abilities of Great Dao Sages, but my skills will be inferior to the real deal, munya!”

Mir had a point, and Miaomiao couldn’t argue with her.

The Sacrificial Altar broke several laws of the universe. They were supposed to comprehend the universal laws, Daos, and mysterious energies that Miaomiao didn’t know. Then, they would get the power that no regular sages had.

However, the existence of the altar destroyed all logic. It magically increased one’s cultivation without the need for Dao Comprehension and various requirements, such as karmic soul, Entity Ore, or necessity items.

Looking at Tlaloc again, Miaomiao had a feeling that the Chaos Demon God’s aura was no different than before, only the density of his Qi changed.

Orochi also heard Mir’s remark. He sighed, “To be honest, I agree with her. I’m now an unrestrained sage, but I don’t know a thing about sages. My foundation is still that of a pseudo sage before I died. Aside from my Qi volume, I don’t sense any change to my Dao or Providence Law.”

“…”

Orochi pointed at Adam, “Now that you two made a point, I think I’ll give up increasing my cultivation base in the future. You should use it on that man or his servants. I can tell that they are dying to try it.”

Miaomiao followed the finger of Orochi and gazed at Adam.

Adam scratched his cheek in embarrassment. Then, he cupped his fist to thank Orochi for giving him an opportunity.

“I’ll take up your offer. I would like to upgrade my men and myself to the sage level.”

Since everybody agreed, Miaomiao gestured and invited Adam to the altar.

As for Mir and Orochi, they descended from the pyramid. Orochi occupied one of the gas caves to cultivate while Mir went back to join her cat herd.

In the end, Miaomiao sacrificed one clone to make Adam a sage. Then, he stopped accelerating the building and let the nature take its course.

Now, Fuxi still had 889 sacrifices in his cloth sleeves. He kept it with him for now.

Once the matter regarding the pyramid was done, Miaomiao returned to the radar tower to monitor his kingdom and prepare for his next buildings. He still had many bills and tickets from the two airdrops that he hadn’t used yet.

Meanwhile, Hongjun and his men allocated the new loot. Again, Jieyin kept the Silver Qi pearls and Entity Ores to himself.

Hongjun used the four free construction tickets and got nothing but pylon towers. He sighed and placed the four towers at the edge of the plane, lining them neatly in a formation.

Jieyin and the sages were puzzled by Hongjun’s arrangement. They questioned him.

“Great Ancestor, isn’t it better to place the tower on the open field so that we can build extra buildings nearby?”

Hongjun shook his head, “Building those things loosely will only invite trouble. Instead of offering our enemies an easy target, we’d better hide the towers somewhere deep in our territory. Only when we really need to expand our buildings or search for extra resources, we will allocate them elsewhere.”

“So, we can move our buildings around?”

“No. But pylon towers are cheap structures. We can build it any time we want to.”

The sages nodded as they agreed with Hongjun. However, Kishin Douji, Fiend Sages, Minghe, OG-Buddha, Qin Shi Huang, and many others disliked the idea. Yet, they didn’t voice their thought.

Hongjun quickly dismissed the meeting. Everybody returned to their post, protecting the portal from potential invaders.

But as many people had free time, they started exchanging information with their former enemies and friends. They formed unusual cliques.

Fiend Sages formed a secret alliance with OG-Buddha and Qin Clan. As for Kishin Douji and Minghe, they mingled with Golden Crow Sage and the remnants of the Olympus. Jieyin and Jian Xian remained as they were, but Zhunti, Jade Sage, Virtuous Sage, All-Heaven Sage, Jade Emperor, Eve, Houtu Sage, and the majority of deities still followed around Hongjun.

Small factions were formed even though they needed to unite to face the common enemies. They eyed each other, waiting to turn some of the representatives into sacrifices.
