Upon entering the palace, Max expected a smiling Asiva to hug and greet him for coming back from a victorious battle, however, he was instead met with the scene of an angry dictator being seated on his throne looking down on him with condescending eyes.

” How graceful of you to return my Lord, I hope the journey back home was comfortable” Asiva said in a sarcastic tone as Max could feel both his hearts race at once.

He began thinking of everything he could have done wrong and then tried to figure out which one of his crimes was Asiva mad at.

” Yes….? ” Max said, sounding half unsure as he waited for Asiva to tell him herself as to why she was angry.

” Did you come back directly or did my Lord need an eight tentacle massage to relieve his stress of the battle first?

If the lord has not already relaxed, I can arrange for an escort to be called to the palace if he so wishes, ” Asiva said as Max’s face became ashen pale.

‘ She knows! ‘ Max and Drax said at the same time in Max’s brain as Max had no idea about how to get out of this awkward situation.

Although it was awkward to get caught, it was moments like these that assured Max that Asiva truly loved her.

If a woman like his ex girlfriend Sophie was in her place she would probably ignore the whole affair and not confront Max about it to not risk his ire, but Asiva did confront him and also cried at the end because the incident hurt her more than her scolding hurt him.

She cared for Max and was territorial about him, which was her way of expressing her love for him.

Making a mental note, Max swore to himself that he would not fool around in the future.

” Also, Prince Felix Aurelius wants to meet you, he knows that you have discovered the link between him and the Red Umbrella group and this makes him uncomfortable.

He’s been targeting our merchants to get your attention and has forced my hand to set-up a meeting with him, ” Asiva said as she moved on to more important topics.

” How typical…. ” Max said as he sighed, half fed up with the life of a politician already.

” He will be here the first thing tomorrow morning. So we will need to push all your other meetings to the back, meaning you will have a very hectic next two days ” Asiva said as she smiled sadly.

She had thought that after Max became a Lord the two would be able to spend a lot of quality time together, but the reality of the situation was that except for official work, the two hardly ever spent time with each other.

Something that she was truly spicy about.

But she could not blame Max over it, this was the life both of them had voluntarily chosen.
