” I’m telling you Max you have made a mistake! You simply cannot make a deal with an Aurelius! Regardless of the outcome it will spell doom for all of us! ” Asiva said as she confronted Max about his decision to sign a system contract with Lucius once they were back in their room.

Asiva was livid, despite her repeated stepping over Max’s foot to show her disapproval regarding the matter, Max still went ahead and signed the system contract anyways.

” Zippo- we need some space, give me a moment please ” Max requested as the black dragon decoupled himself from Max’s shadow and left the room quietly.

Sitting on the bed, Max removed his mask as he looked at Asiva with an expressionless face as he said ” Do you understand how much financial crisis we really are in? “

This question stunned Asiva who naturally knew everything about their financial situation.

” Ofcourse I know! But with the funds the king gave us as rewards we can easily cover salary payments and the cost of your ceremony. We are secure for this month at least ” Asiva said, trying to make her point that they did not need to take the risk now that they had the room to breathe for a few days.

” And then what? Start taxing the citizens who have already paid their annual tax? Become space pirates and loot merchants? Or downright oppress our own population to refill the royal coffers? ” Max questioned with some anger as he gave Asiva a glimpse into how his mind worked.

” I’m not going to live like a peasant. I’m not going to let YOU live like a peasant and I’m not going to burden our citizens with our lifestyle.

Now that we are in power, we need to develop Dombivli into the best planet in the entire vampire monarchy and to do that we need money!

We have worked too hard to become lords to beg for money from banks.

I don’t think you realise the severity of the debt I incur to Angakok everytime I borrow his powers.

We were at our wits end on how to raise the necessary money, now that there is an opportunity to make money I’m not letting it go Siv.

I’m not waiting for slow development, I’m funding every project that needs to be funded, I’m filling up the royal coffers so that we don’t worry about rainy days and I’m getting the funds for a lavish wedding all at once!

Just because I’m a lord now doesn’t mean I start playing the slow and steady game, that’s not me….

Asiva bit her lip when she heard Max’s words, it was exactly opposite to what her line of thinking was.

In her mind, now that they were lords they needed to start playing the slow game, develop their territory, raise their strength and steadily rise through the vampire ranks as the years passed.

However, since Max had made his mind on the matter, she could only reluctantly agree to his decision now.

” Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha”

Vega laughed out loud as he read the report documents on what the intelligence agencies thought about Max Rajput and Ravan.

Vega could imagine Julian scratching his head over the situation as that thought itself brought him immense joy that he had not felt in over 20 years.

” This boy, he brings me so much joy, if not for that tongue of his which lashes out at everyone, I might have considered adopting him ” Vega said as he wiped a tear from his eye from all the excessive laughing.

The report had suggested that Max Rajput and Ravan were different individuals and whereas they estimated Max’s strength to be tier6 level or at least high tier5, they still believed Ravan to be at the peak of tier3.

Vega did not understand how Max had managed to fool the whole universe and how he was able to appear at two different places at once with such convincing fighting abilities, but the situation amused him to no end.

Since he already knew the secret behind Max’s true identity, he could look at these Intel reports gathered by some of the most prestigious organisations across the universe and laugh at their compiled reports, understanding that it was pure garbage.

However, what humoured him even more than this report was the fact that Regus Aurelius had awarded Ravan and Max for their thwarting of Rose Medici.

The exile of the Medici from the vampire society was one of those decisions by Regus which Vega supported wholeheartedly.

Now that he saw Regus fulfilling his duty and rewarding Max over Medici’s death, Vega felt amused as he knew that internally Regus must have been boiling with rage while sending the rewards, but his respect for Regus also increased as he did acknowledge that it was the right thing to do.

It was public knowledge that Vega did not like Regus because of how dishonourably he killed his ancestor Rumi Titus and dethroned the Titus clan as the de-facto power.

But despite his personal ambition to become King and his hatred for Regus, he did respect the vampire monarch.

Under Regus’s reign the vampire society as a whole had progressed a lot. Their influence on the universal scale had improved and their traditions were closely protected.

Even Though Regus was monarch, he did not do anything to harm the integrity of the clan system of the vampires and always behaved within the limits of decency when abusing his powers.

It was only for these two reasons that Vega was still able to bend his knee to Regus Aurelius and call him ‘ King ‘ , because that man deserved to be King Of Vampires.
