They had convinced everyone that it was near impossible to break the deadlock and that if they did not send more and more troops to the planet they would soon lose it out to the barbarians.

Under such circumstances, now that a single man had completely changed the tide of battle on one planet, it made the past 5 generations of Aurelius commanders serving on the planet look like absolute fools.

It was a big slap in the face of the chain of command as well, as the Aurelius clan major serving on the planet did not approve Max’s request of sending him military aid for his conquest of the southern fort because of pressure from Denver Aurelius.

The official reason they stated was ‘ Lack of manpower ‘, when all they requested from the underling clans for the past 50 years or so was manpower.

Every clan had sacrificed thousands of troop lives to secure the frontier planets, yet if one single man could bring down forts that hundreds of thousands could not, then it raised certain difficult questions for the Aurelius clan.

If this news leaked somehow, it would make the entire Aurelius clan and their way of handling the military on the frontline planets look extremely shady.
