I Was Sick of Loving You chapter 87

87 – The Spring Day Comes Again

The nightmare is over and every day is happy.

To start the day by seeing her sleeping,

The time to see her waking up in a drowsy sleep.

The time when I see her smiling at me with the reverberation of sleep,

The time to kiss her with a smile on her face,

It is warm to kiss her, feel her warmth, and enjoy the afterglow of sleep.

The time to wash and sleep with her,

The time to cut and eat each other’s food,

The time to savor the warm scent of tea with her,

The time we talk in bed before going to sleep,

Feeling her warmth and watching her fall asleep makes me blissful.

Such blissful and warm days passed, and spring arrived before I knew it.

The spring day that marks the second year since I got my life back and met her.

After dressing up and feeling the beating of her trembling heart, she followed the guidance of the attendants and headed for the garden.

When I arrived at the garden, the flowers she and I had planted were in full bloom, full of spring, and the normally quiet garden was filled with crowds.

The Duke’s vassals and warriors, and a handful of Dark Elves and Elves.

The princess is talking in front of them.

“A good day like today…”

The princess, who recently opened her eyes after receiving a new blessing, smiled and told a long story.

The rather long story gradually comes to an end, and the beating of the heart intensifies.

I tried to calm myself down by thinking as calmly as possible, but to no avail.

In the midst of the great tension I felt after a long time, I prayed inwardly that I would not make a mistake.

As I prayed like that, the princess’s story ended and the attendants signaled.

At the signal, I moved slowly.

So the trumpet sounded, and my full name was called.

“The groom, Baron Alric Douglas, enters.”

Hearing the unfamiliar full name that he had been given credit for protecting the princess in the past, he walked out to the princess. Hearing the cheers coming from here and there, he bowed silently to the princess who was the officiant and turned around to face the guests.

Turning around, I could clearly feel the eyes of the crowd. The eyes that I didn’t even pay attention to normally feel heavy today. Sensing those gazes, he bowed his head to greet the guests.

As I raised my head, I saw a familiar face in front of me.

I saw Rachel, who had helped a lot in ending the nightmare.

She smiled and waved her hand.

The heavy tension in his appearance eased slightly.

Inwardly, I thanked Rachel for that feeling.

“The bride, Princess Iris Brandt, is entering.”

With that sound, she, wearing a white veil, slowly walked along with her father-in-law.

The tension, which had been light for a moment at the sight of it, became heavy again, and my heart started beating like it was about to explode.

Listening to the sound of her heartbeat and her steps, she endured this heavy time.

Even though it was a short time, the time that felt long was over, and I greeted my father-in-law.

“I believe you will do well, but I will ask you anyway. Make my daughter happy.”

“I will definitely do that.”

Along with the father-in-law’s smile, his wet eyes were clearly visible. With that look, her hand turned to me and I greeted it. Her arms and mine intertwined, and I could clearly feel the warmth.

The warmth made his heart beat louder.

Ignoring the beating sound, he greeted the princess who was officiating the ceremony again.

And we looked at each other and said hello.

At that moment, her smile was visible through the thin veil.

Warmth came from that look.

Savoring the warmth that passed by in an instant, I listened to the vow.

“There will be an oath between the groom and the bride. You two must answer with reverence.”

The princess’ solemn voice spread.

“I will ask the groom first. Do you swear that you will always love and respect the bride, Princess Iris, as your wife, and do your duty as a husband?”

“Yes, I swear!”

I will love her no matter what. I will love you even if I give my life.

“Then I will ask the priest. Do you swear that you will always love and respect the groom, Baron Alik, as your husband, and do your duty as a wife?”

“Yes, I swear.”

“Then, I will ask you two one last time. Do you swear in front of Monk Armis and the guests that you will keep and remember that heart as it is now and be together forever?”

“Yes, I swear!”

“Yes, I swear.”

Her voice and mine resonated together, and a smile appeared on the princess’s lips.

“Then, please proceed with the final oath of the oath.”

At those words, I looked at her and removed the veil covering her.

When the obstruction was gone, I saw her smiling, dressed in flowers.

Looking at her like that, we shared an oath kiss.

Then cheers broke out.

“Brothers and sisters. You two look so good together!”

In the midst of the cheers, I almost burst into laughter at the sound of his voice.

Perhaps she did too, her eyebrows twitched for a moment.

Fortunately, we endured the laughter and ended the oath.

“Today, the groom, Baron Alik, and the bride, Princess Iris, made a firm oath in front of Monk Armis and the guests to become a married couple who will share the joys and sorrows for the rest of their lives. Therefore, the first servant of Armis declares that this marriage has taken place.”

At the end of those words, cheers broke out again.

That cheer reminded me of my life that had changed.

Rather than the formal wedding ceremony held in front of the nobles and their representatives, the simple and noble wedding ceremony, which was conducted in the way she wanted, reminded me of my blissful life.

I was about to burst into tears from the happiness I realized again, but I forced myself to hold it in and smiled and walked slowly with her to the exit.

Out of the garden, she pulled me over.

Being dragged along, I became the shape of being held in her arms.

Holding him in her arms, she smiled and opened her mouth.

“Thank you for marrying me again.”

“I am very grateful.”

“Really?”

To the words of her mischievous smile, he replied by kissing her.

“Will this be enough of an answer?”

“Well, I guess it’s still not enough. I wish it was a little thicker and longer.”

He burst into laughter at her words and coveted her mouth again.

The thick warmth and breath entangled for a long time, then fell.

“Are you satisfied now?”

“Hmm, I think it’s a bit lacking.”

She looked at me with a mischievous and sarcastic smile.

“The guests are waiting, so I’ll do it later.”

“If you say guests, aren’t they people you know? So it’s okay if you’re a little late.”

“There are also elven envoys. So take care of yourself for a moment.”

“It was. I forgot about you because I was so full of thoughts.”

In the past, she pointed out that I didn’t care about making embarrassing noises to me, but now she says embarrassing things more often.

“Again, you’re making embarrassing noises casually.”

“I’m not saying this, I’m just telling the truth.”

“In the world, it is called an embarrassing sound.”

“Never mind that. Happiness is how I got it, but I don’t have time to care about that.”

As she said that, she lightly coveted my lips.

“So you don’t mind either, just focus on me.”

“I will.”

We talked like that, changed clothes, and headed to the hall where the reception was being held.

Upon entering the hall, the scent of alcohol was thick.

It’s nothing strange. Most of the people gathered here are duke’s vassals and warriors, most of whom usually refrain from drinking, but run to death when drinking.

While I was thinking that, my father-in-law found us and beckoned us.

We walked towards the father-in-law.

When I went to my father-in-law’s side, no one had wet their eyes as I saw at the ceremony, only people who were drunk with alcohol and joy remained.

“The son-in-law is here. Come on, I’ve prepared a celebratory drink for you, so drink it all the way.”

My father-in-law said so and handed over a cup the size of his forearm.

Looking at the glass, her eyes narrowed slightly.

“father.”

“Daughter, on such a happy day, you should drink like this.”

“Still, I think it’s too many.”

“It’s okay because it’s good for the body.”

At the words of her father-in-law, she looked at her suspiciously, but her attitude changed at the words of the next father-in-law.

“It’s a drink made with rare ingredients that are good for men, so it will be very helpful.”

“Then, I think it will be fine.”

As she said that, she looked at me softly.

Seeing that gaze, I accepted the drink recommended by my father-in-law and drank it all at once.

“He is also my son-in-law. It’s cool and you drink it well.”

The father-in-law’s hearty laughter spread.

“Let’s have another drink.”

When the father-in-law said so, he filled the cup again.

“I can’t give you any more. I also have to say hello to the princess and the elf and dark elf delegations.”

“I get it.”

“And, if you have any left over from this drink, bring it later.”

“Yeah, take care of it generously.”

The glass was emptied while the conversation between the father-in-law and Iris went back and forth.

After emptying the glass like that, my father-in-law put his arm around my shoulder.

“son-in-law.”

“Yes.”

“I’m a little lonely these days because you’ve taken away all of my daughter’s time.”

“I’m sorry about that.”

“No. It’s normal, so don’t apologize. Anyway, since I’m a little lonely, I want to see my grandchildren.”

“I’ll try my best.”

“Then you should try. I will also help a lot materially. So, I want you to make a little more.”

“I think it would be nice to have a lot of kids too.”

She agreed with her father-in-law.

“My daughter says this too, so try hard.”

“All right.”

“Yes, I believe only my son-in-law. Come on, everyone else is waiting, so let’s go.”

My father-in-law said so and patted me on the back.

Feeling a bit tingling, I turned to the princess.

The princess was having tea with her escort.

Iris expressed her gratitude to the princess.

“Princess, thank you for officiating the ceremony.”

“No. I took it because I like it, and it’s not worth earning this much to my benefactors.”

The princess waved her hand and smiled.

“I already received that as another one, so I’ll pay you back for this later.”

“Don’t do that. I was only helping to straighten out the wrong, I didn’t repay the favor.”

Iris asked the princess for help to resolve public misunderstandings about the Dark Elves, so even though the favor was repaid, the princess denied it.

Iris said she would repay the princess, but in the end Iris raised her hand.

After such a conversation, the princess handed us a small box.

“It’s a wedding gift.”

“thank you.”

“Open it now.”

At the words of the princess, Iris opened the box.

Then a golden pendant came out.

“It contains blessings that prevent minor illnesses. It will help a lot when the child is born later.”

“Thanks to you, my children can grow up healthy. Thank you very much.”

“I’m glad you said that.”

Seeing the delighted Iris, the princess rather liked it as if she had received a present.

After talking a little more with the princess, I headed to the place where the elf and dark elf envoys were.

Heading there, the elves and dark elves were conversing in a more friendly atmosphere than expected.

It was an atmosphere that smelled like alcohol.

In that atmosphere, Rachel was the first to spot us and greet us.

“Brothers and sisters. Chukka!”

Rachel, who usually doesn’t drink, could feel the spirit of alcohol in her words.

“Thank you, Rachel.”

“Ah, I’m more grateful. Sister cleared up our misunderstandings.”

“It’s not all over yet.”

“Still, it’s a lot better than before. There is also a territory that proposes to trade.”

“I’m glad that’s the case. Oh, talk to me when filling out the paperwork. I’ll stick with someone.”

“Yes!”

It’s a little new to hear such a story come out of Rachel’s mouth, who was far from her daily routine.

I know she’s become an elder, but it’s the first time I’ve felt it like this…

When I thought of that, I remembered the image of Kaian being dragged by chains.

So, for a while, I felt strange.

When it got so strange, Rachel came up to me and held out the box.

“Brother, it’s a gift!”

“thanks.”

“Open it quickly.”

Upon opening the box at her urging, a bracelet woven from green leaves was found.

“It’s a gift from someone who’s shy in strange places.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“There is such a thing.”

She had a mischievous smile.

“Never mind that, try putting it on.”

As I put the bracelet on her horse, the rather large bracelet shrunk to fit my wrist and soon soaked into my skin like a tattoo.

“Rachel, what is this?”

“It’s kind of a blessing.”

“blessing?”

“Yes!”

Now I remember that the blessing was gone, but I couldn’t bear to ask it because I couldn’t bear to say it.

“Can you give me this?”

“Yes! A person who is shy in strange places asked me to deliver it, so don’t be burdened.”

I wondered who that person was at her words, but since she told me not to care, I pushed my curiosity aside.

“To explain the blessing, it is the blessing of reunion.”

“A blessing of reunion?”

“Yes! It’s a blessing to be able to meet someone precious again. I told you that I would definitely need a runner.”

At her words, the children came to mind.

“Thank you Rachel. And be sure to tell him thank you.”

“Yes!”

After that, I talked with the elf and dark elf envoys, and time passed and night came.

The night came and the reception was over, and we headed to her room, which became the couple’s bedroom.

When I got to the room, she pushed me away.

“Honey, today is the first night, so don’t think about falling asleep.”

My heart tickled at the way she spoke and called her for the first time.

That tickle signaled that my life as a husband had begun.

That’s how I became her husband again on the spring day that came back.
