Chapter 4: After the Nursing

Perhaps, it was the exhaustion from crying, or maybe it was the feeling of being full, but Fuyuka fell asleep again and woke up quite late, just before midnight.

As expected, I couldn’t let her stay at my place any longer, so I walked Fuyuka, who had recovered to 37 degrees celsius, till the door.

“Thank you very much for everything…”

“No, it’s no big deal.”

When Fuyuka bowed deeply, Asahi replied indifferently.

Although it was true that he had to work a lot, but it didn’t seem desirable to go out of one’s way to appeal in a patronizing manner.

“Take a bath today and go to bed early. Don’t forget to remain hydrated and take your medicine. And…”

He seemed to be lecturing her, but Fuyuka knew that he was giving her advice out of concern. She waited silently until he finished his words.

“You should eat well. If you don’t get enough nutrition, you’ll end up like today.”

“I agree…”

The last part was slightly sarcastic, but Fuyuka nodded her head in agreement, as if she had an idea.

Bowing once again, Fuyuka opened the front door and stepped out into the hallway.

At that time, Fuyuka muttered a few words, which Asahi did not miss.

―I’ll repay the debt.

Before I had time to react, the door closed immediately, and Fuyuka was nowhere to be seen.

It was a little past one o’clock when Asahi turned off the light in his room after taking a bath, cleaning up the dishes and other things quietly.

Being tired and wanting to sleep in a soft bed, but laying down, I felt a faint warmth and a sweet scent that was not familiar tickle my nose.

In silence and darkness that arrived my way, I thought about what had happened today.

An adorable sleeping face. An honest side. Sudden tears.

All of them were far removed from the image of Fuyuka Himuro, who was called the “Ice Lady” and was a closed-minded person who rejected others.

I know that it was caused by the high fever, and I’m not going to tell anyone about it just for the fun of it.

When her fever dies down, she will once again be the “Ice Lady” with an unapproachable cold atmosphere around her.

From tomorrow onwards, I should act like a stranger and not talk to or have anything to do with her.

With that in mind, Asahi relaxed his body and fell asleep.
