Chapter 37 – The Egg Won’t Hatch!

「No earthquakes. This is great….」

It’s been four days since I experienced an earthquake near the lake.

There has been no earthquake since that day.

But it isn’t all good.

Without cracks, the curse around the core can’t be broken.

I checked after that and the only cracks were in that area.

The restoration went well and there’s no overflow of cursed magic power.

I’m happy that I succeeded but I’m sad that I can’t cleanse it.

It’s complicated.

「What if I make a crack myself?」

I’ll use magic to make a crack on the wall…..no, let’s not do that.

If by mistake I make a hole in the wall instead of a crack, we’ll be in big trouble.

I entered the living room and went to the place where the cribs were placed.

The angels have shared the room with the children so the only thing here in the crib is the egg.

「Is there any sign of hatching?」

I ask Flying Lizard who’s lying by the crib.

「None. It looks like they are full of power so it could hatch anytime but it doesn’t look like it will hatch soon.」

In the crib is a black egg.

According to Flying Lizard, it must be a Cerberus puppy.

I can see through the egg but no one else can see it but me.

I have a feeling that my new power is involved but I’m not really sure.

Still, I look into the egg.

「What’s up?」

There are three Cerberus faces in the egg that are looking at me.

When I made my face closer, they all reacted differently.

「I think one is friendly. The other two seem to be wary though.」

They have one body but have three brains.

I thought they must be thinking the same but it looks like that’s not how it is.

One of them responds when I wave my hand.

However, when I look at the expressions on the faces of the other two, I feel like they are scared of me.

I didn’t do anything to them…..

But still, I wonder why.

The way they act now is completely different compared to when they first saw me.

When they first saw me, they were surprised.

Even though they were small, they were very menacing and amusing….though I must admit, they scared me a little.

「When are you going to hatch? I’ve been waiting so come out soon!」

Given how the Cerberus looked, it seems like they both saw me and heard what I said.

However, I can’t hear them on my end.

If I could hear them, I would be able to talk to them and understand why they are still not hatching.

「Oh, the friendly pupper is angry. The other two must have done something.」

From inside the egg, I can see the Cerberus looking at me.

Well, its big gaping mouths and big fangs certainly look terrifying.

I stare at the faces of the three pups in the egg.

Compared to the first time, their expressions seem to have softened.

「What’s wrong, your lordship? Is something wrong happening?」

I looked at Flying Lizard and saw that it was looking at the egg even though it told me that it couldn’t see what was inside.

「Can you see it?」

Then, why did you stare at the egg?

「Ah, the Cerberus look calmer compared to when they first came here.」
