Chapter 22 – Let’s Go to the Royal Castle!

Tremor tremor tremor tremor.

「Uwaaa….」

I felt an earthquake and got up from the bed.

That was a little strong.

…..why is it still not settling down?

「Rope? Are you there?」

I waited for a while but there was no answer.

「……. Are you there?」

What’s going on?

I guess I should assume that something happened to Rope.

It was a mistake to let it check it out before having any idea what was happening.

I assumed that since Rope was the overseer of this world, it could find anything going on.

….should I sneak into the royal castle?

Ah, maybe the humans did something to Rope.

Is that even possible?

「Haa, I don’t think I’m going to get an answer while sitting here thinking.」

Alright, let’s go to the royal castle tomorrow to see what’s happening with rope.

I’m sure we can work out a way to get into the royal castle…..probably.

「Your Lordship!」

Eh?

I looked at the source of the voice and saw the children running into my room with Taiyou in the lead.

「Seriously…..」

Given the children’s momentum, I braced myself.

And as expected, they came straight at me!

「Wait a minute! Strengthen!」

「It’s shaking～」

「I’m scared～」

「What was that just now～?」

The children tackled me all at once.

「Ugh」

I know you were scared.

I understand where you were coming from but please, be a little gentler.

Taiyou hit me so hard that I couldn’t help but fall onto the bed and the kids kept coming on top of me.

I’m glad I was able to cast strengthen to myself before Taiyou hit me.

That earthquake should be around intensity 2 or 3  on Japanese seismic scale.

As long as we don’t know the cause of earthquake, we don’t know if it will really be okay.

By the way, when are these kids going to get off of me?

「Now, shall we go to the human country?」

「Your lordship, are you going out today?」

Koa, who’s standing beside me, looks at me and tilts her head.

I hugged her neck and it felt nice and fluffy.

Suddenly, I felt something. Chai is glaring at me.

These two are still on good terms.

「I’ll try to go to the human country and sneak into the royal castle.」

「Sneak? We can just go through the front door.」

Koa looks confused.

Ah, right!

If I’m with the king of the forest, I might be able to get in.

「Will Koa come with me?」

If Koa can’t, how about Boss-san?

Or maybe I should take the dragons?

「Of course, I’ll go with you.」

I feel some sense of darkness from Koa.

「We’re just going to check on Rope, who’s in the royal castle.」

「Rope? An, you mean the magic stone. Didn’t you say you could converse with each other without seeing each other?」

When we were about to leave the wood deck, two parent spider-sans came to us.

「Your lordship, are you going to the human country?」

The parent spider-san tilted its head when it asked me.

They grew up considerably but they still look cute.

「We have something to do in the forest around the human country. Can we go with you?」

Something to do in the human country?

What is it?

「I don’t mind but, is there a problem?」

「There are humans who have entered the forest from the human country. We need to check them out.」

From the human country?

Are they dangerous that you have to be that vigilant?

「Is there any danger?」

「We don’t know yet.」

I guess we have to look it out first.

I hope there’s no problem.

「Then, let’s go together.」

Seeing the happy parent spider-sans, I can’t help but smile.

I was still anxious about yesterday’s earthquake but talking to them like this made me relieved.

「Your lordship, ride us today!」

The parent spider-san appeals to me to ride on it.

Speaking of which, I have been only riding Koa lately.

It might be good to ride a parent spider-san this time.

「Parent spider-san, thank you. Can I ride you now?」

I ride on top of the parent spider-san as it runs through the forest.

It is slower than Koa but still very fast.

After running for several hours, the speed of the parent spider-san slowed down.

The parent spider-san I’m riding pointed out its leg to a certain place.

When I looked at it, I saw a group of people wearing similar clothes.

They look like Dadavis’ group though the design of what they are wearing is different.

Could they be knights from the human country?

Does this mean that we are near the human country?

「Areh? There are beastkins too.」

Looking at the situation, it seems like a beastkin is giving instructions to the whole group.

So, is he a knight of the beastkin country?

……but their group has more humans…..

「They seem to be looking for something.」

Hearing what Koa said, I looked at the group again.

Right, they look like they are looking for something but they are wary.

What exactly are they looking for?

「There are monsters nearby.」

Chai’s words made me look around.

However, all I see are trees.

「Over there.」

I follow Koa’s gaze. Where?

I check the direction Koa is looking at again.

Chai and the parent spider-sans seem to have already found them.

「A total of 12.」

One of the parent spider-sans answered Koa’s question.

There are 12 of them?

I haven’t even found one yet.

「Areh? Those monsters’ magical powers are pretty unstable. Aside from that….」

「Your lordship, please wait here in the tree for a moment. We’ll finish them right away.」

The parent spider-san put me down on a truck of a big tree and flew toward the mixtures at once.

If they are not natural-born monsters, how were they born?

 

From below, I can hear the alarmed screeches of the monsters called mixture and even the sound of their demise.

The parent spider-sans and Koa are relentless.

Ah, speaking of which, what happened to the group of knights?

「Ah, they froze up….well, I guess that’s a normal reaction.」

Ah, it looks like Koa’s group has already ended the battle.

That was quick.

You’re not going to bring those monsters back home, don’t you?

I’m not sure if it’s a bad sign to have such unstable magic power.

Actually, I’m curious but our residence is too far from here.

「We have kept you waiting!」

The parent spider-san flew in like it just had fun and it is covered with…..blood.

It usually hunts cleanly.

Perhaps they have some resentment over those monsters.
