Chapter 39: Berserker On Hunting [P2]

05 APR 2022NOOBCHAN TRANSLATION BERSERKER MOB

“Bah, old Vince! Are you going to allow that maniac to run amok?”

“That’s right! Eight people have already been killed!”

“We can’t let him get away with it anymore! They are actively hunting us like a dog!”

The people are in dispute. They are all foaming at the mouth, and they are all trying to get to Vince, the chief of the group.

Vince, however, looks unconcerned. He knows the people who are in a frenzy in front of him. Those who had strongly appealed for retaliation against Al. They are the ones who cannot follow the chief’s decision.

 Vince asks with a sigh.

“So what? After all, what do you want? You want me to be the mediator to ask for forgiveness from Lord Al?”

“Ah ? No, no way! Who told you that? I’m saying that as a Clan, we should get rid of him!”

“Yes, That’s right. That’s right. ! AS A CLAN, we need to get our act together!”

 The truth is, Vince understands.

The truth is, they just weren’t ready. In short, they had no idea that their lives would be in danger. Just like Naina and the others before them.

And when they heard the footsteps of Madman, they got scared. It was there that they realized for the first time the danger they were in.

They only thought that their demands and requests would be granted. They thought they could get what they wanted. Even among those who have grown up to a certain age and are considered to be senior members of the family, there are some who are like this.

I did not notice this at normal times. How disappointed was Vince?

(Perhaps it was the same thing that Mister Al was feeling for me at that time……. how pathetic)

More than anything else, Vince must seek a way to keep as many of his clan members alive as possible. This is not the time to give shelter to those who drag their feet and drag others down with them.

“I told you that I had better things to do than to retaliate against Lord Al. And I have already made my decision as the chief regarding Naina and the others.

If you have acted without regard to the words of the chief, no longer rely on me or on the clan. Do as you wish after that. There is no one left to listen to you. There is no time to spare. If you still try to incite others in the family, then I, as chief, will purge you. That is all.”

“…….!!!”

“…..Vince, old man!”

Vince raises one hand and indicates to the people surrounding them, “Get these people out of here.”

The family no longer needs anyone who cannot follow the chief’s instructions. And only those who understand this are left around Vince.

“Let go of me! Young man!”

“Guys! Don’t think you can get away with this!”

“Noooo! Listen to me! Chief!”

Farewell. Separation. Vince knows that this is the parting of the ways with them for the rest of his life.

It is true that Vince was surprised by Al’s aggressive approach, but Al admirably killed only those who intended to “harm him” and not just anyone like a Madman. Vince was relieved that there was no mistake in that, and he dismissed it out of hand.

(I sent out a pursuit and search for Naina. But at this rate, I wonder if Lord Al will get there first. …… Naina. I wanted to see the future of you as Ada leading our clan. There was no falsehood in it. …… I ask no more forgiveness for the foolish chief who failed to lead correctly, including you, and the many of our brethren who have perished……. Just sleep. Until I pass away, and you can tear me down to pieces in the afterlife.)

Vince prays. His own mistakes and foolishness, which can never and must never be forgiven. He prays for the repose of the souls of those who have fallen victim to them.

He feels shame and regret that he is still alive. Nevertheless, as the chief, he works for the clan and cannot stand still. He cannot escape death just yet.

The indecisive, one-or-the-other, conciliatory chief that was depicted in the game is no longer there.
