7th Demon Prince Jilbagias’ Chronicle of Demon Kingdom Toppling – Chapter 54

54. The End of Fairy Tale

A white dragon and a demon race youth were glaring at each other inside the crumbling fortress.

The dragon had never expected that the demon race youth before him could withstand the dragon race’s trump card, breath.

The fact that the youth had been hiding his strength in the beginning of the battle had only made the dragon more vigilant.

「… Annoying.」

Faravugi spat out those remarks.

「Even though… I planned to keep this power as a trump card to massacre those dark dragons…!」

His eyes were suddenly glowing with a suspicious iridescent color.

Oioioi, I had no idea what in the world was this guy trying to do but, like hell I’m gonna wait for him to finish that. I was closing in toward him while raising my shield―― And stabbed into his wound with my obsidian knife!

But, Faravugi’s strange glow quickly spread on every part of his body.

「【PARADISOS COSMOS EGOCENTRI IMPERIFAS!(OUR PERSONIFICATION OF LIGHT, BURN EVERYTHING BEFORE ME !)】」

His silver scales started glowing brighter and brighter. It was as if I was looking at the midsummer sun――

「GRRRRR… UUOOOOOOOOAR――!」

My field of vision dyed in white color along with his roar.

The brightness literally burned my eyes! Rather,  his entire body was just literally emitting heat!? Darn, the power might be weaker but he literally unleashed an omni-directional breath attack.

I applied another layer of defensive ward on my body, I used as much darkness magical power as I could. That reduced the scorching pain on my skin a little bit.

But―― Sofia and the beastfolk aside, the night elves would literally be turned into charcoal by this attack.

Oh dammit! Why am i starting to worry about those fu*cking darklings now of all times!!

「GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA――!」

On the other side, the enraged Faravugi spun around and mowed down everything with his tail.

I dodged with a jump. The tail which was protected by densely packed scales was cutting the air. I tried to slash at the tail with my knife but it got repelled by the scales with ease. The glowing scales had already transformed into an extremely terrifying weapon.

Moreover, upon a closer look, I saw that the wound on Faravugi’s body had already stopped bleeding and started to heal. Darn, was that self-reinforcement magic? That kind of toughness was cheating, you hear me!

「【――Taboo To Luminescence!】」

But, my attempt to reduce his firepower got repelled immediately.

「GUOOOOOOOOOOOOOO――!」

Faravugi rushed at me with some drool dripping from his muzzle. I dodged his bite attack by a hair’s breadth but the claw attack following had reached my body.

「Guh――」

I tried to protect myself with my shield but the force behind that claws attack blew me away. I tried to stand back and adjust my stance once my body stopped rolling on the ground but that one strike had literally crushed my defensive ward…!

Not to mention that taboo magic was useless against him!

『It might be a mental interference.』

Ante told me the reason why taboo magic didn’t work.

『He might be using charm on himself. Though he lost his sanity as a result, the circulation of his magical power has become even faster than before, as a result his magic resistance is rising too.』

How can you explain that matter so calmly in this kind of situation!

I tried my best to dodge or block the barrage of claws, tail, and bite attacks with my shield, got blown away as a result barely hanging in there but―― I knew that my body was slowly reaching its limit! I tried to use taboo in close combat or taboo to against the bite but alas, it was completely ineffective.

Dammit, he even trampled my subordinates who were rolling around on the floor!

I used my obsidian knife to block his incoming claw attack but―― The knife’s blade had finally creaked as it clashed against the combination of magical power of light and the toughness of dragon scale.

“”

「Ah.」

And broke along with a clear sound.

Even though it was made from solid material, it was only above average, thus it crumbled―― When overloaded with my magical power.

The obsidian blade got smashed right in the center.

「GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!」

Faravugi’s arm drove in without a moment of delay. The blow instantly smashed the shield on my left arm. I jumped back to reduce the strength of the blow but, my back collided with the wall――

「――MASTER!」

For a moment, I felt something soft on my back.

Something that raised 「Ginyaa」 scream inserted between me and the wall.

「――Garounya!」

The beastfolk maid whose fluffy white fur had numerous black, smoky patches on it, embraced me from behind.

「Please, escape… I will, buy some time for you…」

She tried to stand in front of me as she spoke but then, she fell on her knees.

Dammit, sorry. I ended up indebted to you.

But―― Faravugi , who lost his sanity, rushed toward us again.

Dodging that mad charge was easy but, if his body collided with the wall―― This tattered fortress might collapse for sure.

When I looked around, my subordinates-including Verossa- had already been out of commission, they either passed out, or were dead. If the fortress collapsed under this situation, all of them might be squashed to death.

Part of myself whispered to leave them to die. ―― There is no problem even if those darklings die, right?

But still.

Those fellas were my subordinates. I was by no mean feeling some sort of camaraderie to them. It just felt like a waste to let them die due to this lizard’s rampage, a useless end.

Yes, it was a waste―― This wasn’t compassion, it was a rational decision!

Dammit.

Dammit, to think that the first thing I had to protect with this name was―― These fu*cking darkling.

「【Our Name is―― Alexander】」

Everyone had already passed out, Faravugi had also lost his sanity.

「【The Contractor of The Demon God Antendixis!】」

The only one who heard this chant was Ante, and Liliana!

My presence became several times bigger than the previous enhancement.

――O Gods Of Light, Light My Path.

「【Hi Yet Lampus, Sut Hyel Mo(O Holy Light, Come To This Hand)】」

The shield on my left hand glowing, the magical power of darkness around my body exploded in a silvery glow.

Despite its’ brilliance, the silvery glow was scorching my own body.

It was painful. But then, the pain suddenly lessened.

「Woof!!」

Before I knew it, Liliana who had already been on my side propped me up from behind.

「―― COME AT ME, FU*CKING LIZARD!!」

I face his charge right from the front.

Right behind me was Liliana and Garounya.

I will not retreat. Not even a step.

I turned such conviction into belief.

Faravugi’s head crashed on my shield. The holy attribute repelled him, burning his silvery scales bit by bit. My feet sunk into the stone floor, the shock from the crash transmitted in my entire body, the silvery light was also pushed into the membrane of magical power of darkness around my body.

And then, as the ground shook, the dragon’s body―― Had finally come to a halt.

I glared into Faravugi’s eyes that were glowing with iridescent color from point blank range.

「I did it.」

That moment, Ante left my body.

「I’m not that good with moving around.」

And then leapt onto Faravugi’s head.

「But as expected, it’s possible if it’s this close.」

And stretched her arm.

「Peek a――Boo♪」

Then gouged Faravugi’s eyes with both of her hands.

「――――!!!」

Faravugi raised a mute scream as his head swung around wildly. Sadly, that wild movement threw Ante from his head, planting her body straight on to the ceiling, before she crashed back to the ground, double combo.

But―― She did a good job.

After crushing Faravugi’s eyes which seems to be the fulcrum of his magic, the glow around Faravugi’s body was weakened a lot.

「【――In The Name of Alexander, Taboo To Luminescence!】」

The moment I finished my hex, the glow on his scales weakened a lot and then vanished――

「―― I’m not, done yet. Not yet―― I cannot, fall ―― In this place…!」

Faravugi who regained his sanity mustered the last of his strength as if he really was crying the tears of blood. His dwindling magical power started circulating around his body again, he tried to rouse his flame of wrath――!

What a tenacious guy. He was truly tenacious for the sake of his revenge. I really couldn’t see him as my enemy, he should be a reliable ally if it wasn’t for this shi*tty encounter――

But―― I really couldn’t afford to let him rampage in this fortress anymore.

I need something, a weapon.

When I looked around―― I saw an ominous glint on the side of Verossa who felll in his own pool of blood.

A sharp… Sword.

It was the most dangerous weapon in this place.

「GRRRRRR――RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR――!」

Dammit, Faravugi must be trying to do something again! It’s a race against time! Dammit, if only I was not hesitating to pick up the sword――!

That moment, the remains of the shield in my left hand trembled lightly.

It then stretched as if to grant my wish. The bones then moved like a whip, coiling around the hilt of the sword, and then returned to its original size.

And then, it was transformed into a spear shaft. And then, a new weapon took shape in my hands who couldn’t use a spear and sword.

And then, I ran forward as if someone’s hand pushed me from the back.

This weapon―― Was something that I was really familiar with. The bones of the soldiers combined together into the edge of the sword. The swordcraft of human which was ingrained in my being, and the spearcraft which was added after that was now――

Combined into a completely new form of combat style.

「【Hi Yet Lampus, Sut Hyel Mo(O Holy Light, Come To This Hand)】」

The blade shone in silvery color.

The force of my rush and the centrifugal force of my swing―― I slashed at Faravugi’s neck with my new weapon.

I was really surprised to see just how easily my blade passed through Faravugi’s thick neck, as if I was cutting jelly with a seared knife.

The silver light drew an arc in the darkness of the fortress.

The silver dragon stopped moving as the silver light stayed still.

That dragon’s head―― Then fell to the ground.

The dragons head was rolling on the floor with a thud. His bloodstained eyes had almost recovered―― Glaring resentfully at me.

But then, the glow in his eyes faded rapidly, and completely vanished a few seconds later.

The body of the giant dragon who lost its head then fell to the ground, creating one last tremor.

――The light dragon driven to madness by his hatred was slain by the hero of the demon race.
