Chapter 3 – Peaceful Everyday Life

I look around the living room while slowly sipping my after-meal tea.

I’ve gotten used to the scene of breakfast.

I was upset when the number of children suddenly increased but they are being taken care of by the one eyes.

Within a few days, the one eyes managed to teach them to eat at the table.

Even now, the children listen to what the one eyes are saying and enjoy their food slowly.

Well, there are occasional skirmishes between children sitting next to each other but it’s a lively and peaceful eating time.

 

The infant angels, who were flying around freely when they first arrived, seemed to have calmed down and are now good kids.

However, for some reason, they seem to be behaving more childish compared to when they first came here.

The same can be said to the children that Goddess Aion brought with her.

I was told that they are eight years old but given their behavior, I think they are younger.

However, since I have not been involved with little kids, it could just be my imagination.

 

Well, whatever the case, they are fine so I don’t worry much about it.

The little angels and the children were adults but they became like this now because of the damage done by gods and some apprentices.

It’s not surprising if they had suffered some kind of aftereffect.

As long as they are healthy, that’s all that matters.

「Taiyou, Tsuki, Kouyou, don’t touch foods that are not yours.」

Kuuhi looked at them and said that in a slightly reproachful voice.

「Eh? We can’t?」

「Can’t. Even if you want to eat more, don’t take it from others. If you want more, just tell the one eyes!」

At Kuuhi’s words, Kouyou stared at the one eye nearest to her.

However, the one eye shook its head.

I was confused when I saw that.

There shouldn’t be a problem if you feed them more.

「I can’t?」

Kouyou stares at the one eye with a sad look on her face.

「No, you ate too much sweets last night so absolutely no.」

Sweets last night?

「mou…..」

「Kouyou, you better give up. The three of you stole and eat them last night.」

After Kuuhi said that, I started at Taiyou, Tsuki, and Kouyou.

They stole and ate sweets?

Is that so?

I told them to eat fruits at night, not sweets.

The one eyes are the only ones who are making them here.

Sometimes, they serve sweets after dinner but last night, they didn’t.

「Taiyou, Tsuki, Kouyou.」

「「「Yes」」」

Hearing me calling them, the three of them suddenly sat straight.

Why are they like that?

I never yelled at them and I’m even doing what I can to be gentle when I’m warning them. Why do they look like they are scared?

How long have they been like that?

This is the first time I noticed them being like this.

Did I do something unconsciously or something?

No, I don’t think so.

I stare at the three of them.

They are all sitting straight on their chairs, looking at me fearfully.

Hmm, I know I have to be careful in dealing with children but I have to tell them something because they did something wrong.

「Did the three of you steal sweets and eat them?」

「「「Yes, I’m sorry.」」」

The three of them look down.

Why do I feel like I’m bullying them?

「You can raise your heads now. Why did you do it?」

In the meantime, I’d better not scare them off more than I already have.

「Ehto, I’m hungry….that’s it.」

Taiyou and Kouyou nod to what Tsuki has said.

「So, you were hungry. Did you talk to anyone about it?」

The three shook their heads.

They are shaking their heads vigorously that I find it a little scary.

「It will be a good idea to talk to the one eyes next time. There shouldn’t be a problem with that, right?」

I asked the nearest one eye who heard the whole story.

「Of course. We have prepared sweets in case you’re hungry.」

And food is even readily available.

I’m surprised.

「Really?」

When the three look at the one eye, the one eye nods.

「We never know if his lordship will get hungry so we are well prepared. If you ask us, we will make that available for you.」

For me!

I mean, I’m not that picky when I’m hungry.

I’m getting worried about what I’m doing.

「Your lordship?」

The one eye calls me.

「What’s wrong?」

「The food we prepared belongs to his lordship, will there be a problem if we feed them to the children?」

「There won’t so just feed them.」

This one eye is the most polite one eye here.

「Good to hear. Next time, call me out.」

The three nod to the one eye.

Then, glance at me.

They are still scared, aren’t they?

「I hope you learned something.」

They look so pitiful with how they act.

I get up from my chair and get ready to go on my morning rounds.

「Your lordship, are you going to look around?」

「Yeah.」

I’m not sure if these rounds are necessary but, well, everyone’s happy to see me so I can only go on. Some of them, like eco, are rooted on a spot and can’t move. The nanafushis around Eco won’t come here unless there’s a problem.

「Take care.」

「I’m off.」

「「「「「Have a nice day」」」」」

I wave and leave to the leaving room and to the front door.

The hallway and the front door have been remodeled before I knew it.

The hallway, which was originally wide, is now much wider and the entrance is now a sliding door with a large door around 2 meters high.

Each door was big and I was quite surprised when I saw it for the first time.

I was worried about the weight of the door but the big door glided smoothly on the rail without any heavy feeling.

「Now, let’s start with the field.」

Once outside, I walked past the expansive garden to the field.

「Vast」

I’ve said that word many times already and I still say it today.

Perhaps it is the remnants of the time when I still can’t communicate with anyone so I can’t stop talking to myself.

Whenever I notice it, words will naturally come out of my mouth.

I try to be careful but I can’t stop myself from talking………

「It was almost two years that I wasn’t able to talk to anyone after all.」

I stretch my arms upward and straighten my back.

I look at the sky and see the beautiful blue sky.

It’s going to be another beautiful day.

「Good morning」

「「「「「Good morning」」」」」

The farming corps are already working in the field this morning.

The field is covered in green and the lushness of it shows that the vegetables are growing well.

I stand a short distance away from the field and look at the farming corps and the field amoebas.

 

I was surprised when I heard that the amoebas were spirits.

Because they look exactly like amoebas you can find under the microscope.

And in Japan, spirits have cuter image.

Well, they are cute for amoebas but I think they’re a little different.

「Oh, there are grandspiderlings and grandantlings.」

TN: Chibi was changed to grandchild for some reason.

Although they were hiding behind the leaves, the grandspiderlings and grandantlings seemed to be helping with the fieldwork.

When I waved at them and the grandspiderlings stopped working and waved back.

「They are so cute.」

When the grandantlings noticed what the grandspiderlings were doing, they turned their gazes to me and waved their legs in the air like the grandspiderlings too.

If I leave them alone, they will continue nonstop so I decide to leave.

「Thanks for your hard work.」

After thanking the farming corps, I decided to head toward the pond where Eco is.

As I walk along, keeping an eye on the river surrounding our residence, water amoebas appear one after another.

Compared to the pond at the beginning, the pond has grown considerably.

However, the water in both the river and pond is very clean just as it has been since the beginning.

You can even see mysterious creatures other than the amoebas from the bank.

「…..that’s a giant sea cucumber. Ah, a walking anemone.」

Well, there seem to be all kinds of creatures.

 

As I was peering into the pond, I heard a rustling sound.

When I looked up, I saw a group of nanafushi on top of a big tree.

「Good morning」

The nanafushis look happy and start to dance when they see me.

After negotiation, their dance only lasted for less than five minutes and I could enjoy that much every day.

「You’re cute today too. Thanks.」

I put my hand on the big tree where the nanafushis are and slowly pour magical power through it.

The tree rustles and the wind whistles through it.

I can feel that Eco is happy.

I remove my hand and look up at the tree.

White buds are visible among the leaves.

「Still not blooming.」

Flying Lizard and the others became quite impatient when they saw the buds.

When I asked them about it, they told me that this was the first time they had ever seen Eco flowering.

「I’m looking forward to seeing what it looks like when it blooms.」

Everyone’s panicking but I’m looking forward to the flowers blooming.

「Well, that’s the end of my daily rounds. See you tomorrow.」

What shall I do today?

Come to think of it, when did Goddess Aion say she was coming again?
